LA SORTIE THÉÂTRE

“What do young people want?” This could be one of the questions addressed by artist and performer Ndayé Kouagou’s original creation, his first theater project. The play was written, directed and performed with students majoring in theater at the High school Philippe Lamour in Nîmes. Entitled “VOUS, NOUS, et le reste”, it portrays the dreams, hopes, preoccupations, doubts and fears of these high school students in the full bloom of adolescence. Their thoughts and emotions are rendered with the utmost authenticity, the artist having accompanied them in writing and acting without ever taking their place. Above all, he wanted to highlight, legitimize their presence, and encourage the expression of their poetic and artistic voices. Getting up on stage, speaking and being heard without ever being interrupted in an 800-seat auditorium – maybe that’s what young people want after all.
