Born in 1978 in France, Laure Prouvost is a French visual artist and video-maker who lives and works in Brussels. She is a graduate of Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths College (London). She has exhibited at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris), the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York), the MUHKA (Antwerp) and the Musée LaM (Villeneuve d’Ascq). In 2021, she had solo exhibitions at Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Copenhagen) and in 2024 at ACCA (Melbourne). Laure Prouvost was awarded the Max Mara Prize for Women in 2011 and the Turner Prize in 2013. In 2016, she was awarded the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite, followed by Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2019. She is known for her immersive installations involving film, sculpture, tapestry, performance and language. In 2019, she represented France at the Venice Biennale with the installation “Deep See Blue Surrounding You”. Laure Prouvost is represented by Lisson Gallery (London, New York, Shanghai, East Hamptons), Carlier | Gebauer (Berlin, Madrid) and Galerie Nathalie Obadia (Paris, Brussels).
