Dimitri Chamblas
Born in 1974, Dimitri Chamblas is a French dancer and choreographer who lives and works between Los Angeles and France. Over the course of his career, Dimitri Chamblas has collaborated with William Forsythe, Emmanuelle Huynh, Benjamin Millepied, Mathilde Monnier and Boris Charmatz. With the latter, they created the duet “À bras-le-corps”, which entered the Paris Opéra ballet repertoire in 2017. Artistic Director of 3e Scène – Opéra national de Paris, he then moved to Los Angeles to join the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) as Director of the School of Dance, where he continues to teach today. Recent projects include “takemehome”, created in collaboration with artist Kim Gordon; “Slow Show”, a show questioning time for fifty performers; the staging of “Crowd Out”, an opera by David Lang for 1000 voices; and a teaching program in high-security prisons in California.
