Barbara Butch
Born in 1981, Leslie Barbara Butch (better known as Barbara Butch) is a DJ and activist. From 2004 to 2008, she ran the restaurant L’Arrosoir in Montpellier, where she began her DJing career. Returning to Paris in 2013, she first performed in small bars in the capital (Les Souffleurs, Le Raymond), then on more established stages such as the Rosa Bonheur, where she is now a resident artist, or the Machine du Moulin Rouge. Today, she continues to perform on the biggest stages in France and abroad. In 2017, she was an artist associate at the Centre chorégraphique national de Caen in Normandy for a DJ set to close the opening season program, in association with Ola Maciejewska, Alban Richard and Mélanie Cholet. A feminist, lesbian and fat activist, she campaigns through her looks, her work and on social media, taking a stand against fatphobia, homophobia and whorephobia.
